New Gun, Tricked it out and now a safe Queen!
« on: November 29, 2012, 09:51:00 PM »
Has anyone purchased a new gun, put a bunch of extra's on maybe shoot it once or twice and then once it hits the safe never comes out again?  I dropped about $3k into one and have only shot it twice in two years.  I may have wasted a lot of money.   :dunno:
Cut em!

You are lucky to only have one my friend :chuckle: Most of us "addicts" have many like that. I just made one up about 3 months ago and yet to even shoot the dang thing. Sure is pretty to look at :chuckle:

I buy most of my guns to use but every once in awhile I buy them to just spoon with :chuckle: Kidding, well maybe :chuckle:

I have a 10-22 that I put a Volquartsen carbon fiber tension barrel, Volquartsen trigger group, Volquartsen scope rail, Hogue stock, and nice Nikon scope on.  And I have shot it probably 5 times in 8 years now.  :bash: Probably $800 dollars in extras on it and don't hardly shot it.

Heck now that I think about it. I have a super sexy CZ Bavarian sitting in my safe that has never even been shot!

I call it my retirement gun. For when I get old and get tired of these super magnums beating me up :chuckle: Even though I am only 25 a guy has to think about his future

:chuckle: I have a couple of those as well. 2 of my favorite guns have marks on them from letting other people use them :bash: My uncle took a fall off the top of a rock buck when crossing a fence with my model 70 across his back :bash: I am still sick to my stomach for trusting him with it. Should have just let him use the bloody tikka!!!! :chuckle:

I try to avoid getting any guns that are too nice to really shoot. I do have a few that rarely leave the safe.. My AR would have been sold already if my Fiance didnt claim it as her own. (Id rather dump 30rd mags of russian steel x39 than my .223 reloads.) I dont shoot my 10mm glock as much as the 9mm and .45 either, because 10mm brass is precious  :chuckle:
Unfortunately I dont have 3k into any one gun. Im not afraid to shoot any of them, but I still try to avoid scratches, and keep them clean.

Oh no, that's not the only one.  Just the most recent that I thought I had to have.  I am trying to get another safe, but I am having a stand off with the wife.  She's telling me to sell a few, so I don't have to buy another one.

I went the Tactical Solutions options with barrel, receiver, trigger, mag release and hogue stock.  Then placed a bi-pod on it and topped it off with a Leupold scope.  Then went and had the barrel threaded for a suppressor.

I put over 2K into an AR for work and shoot it twice a year. It rides around in its case and never comes out. I don't think its wasted money because its piece of mind knowing its there if I need it.

:chuckle: So you sell a few, get a new safe and then fill it up with new guns :chuckle: Everyone wins :chuckle:

I have my beautiful custom 340wby. It's around the 5 mark and I just broke it out for the first hunt the other day. I took it down to cali with me the first of this month and did some critter whacking down there. It was tuff for me to break it out of the safe. I am glad I did, it was fun blasting some critters with it. Even though it is my long range rig and I was planning on slinging some lead. Both my critters met there match at around 100 yards :yike: You ever see what a 200 grain accubond at 3100fps can do to a running hog at about 100 yards :yike:
