lieca spotting scope.
« on: September 07, 2008, 05:48:32 PM »
I just recently purchased a lieca televid 62 angled body with a 26 power eyepeice. Just wondering if it is worth spending the 600 bucks required for the 16-48 power eye piece. I have heard that once you get over 35 - 40 power you view gets pretty distorted from the heat waves.

I wouldn't. I think the 26x is all the magnification you'll ever need.

no. keep the fixed power. its lighter, better field of view and clearer to boot.

i do like the 26 power and it is very good up to about 3 miles which is as good as i will ever need, i think. But at three miles i cant pick an animal apart i can just see the frame which i guess is fine but i like to role with everything for any instance. I guess in washington I dont know of to many places that i hunt that i can can see further than a mile anyway. I bought the scope for my idaho hunt and i think it will be a must for that area. my god you can see 10 miles.

Yep, stick with the fixed whenever using a scope for hunting. On my Nikon, I'd rather lug around my 30x and a 75x than carry just one zoom. Just my $0.02.
