any clearcuts, or openings in margaret?

i have a cow archery tag and cant find hardly any open country, looking for some areas by the spirit lake highway? p.s. thanks for any help! brian

There aren't many. In my opinion the weyco side of Margaret is perfect for bow hunters, most your shots should be within bow range and the timber for the most part is very huntable. If I were you I would stay away from the few clearcuts and find some nice timber to hunt.

I don't know the area but you would be amazed at what you can find on google earth.

Google Earth is a hunters BEST FRIEND. I got it on my desktop, laptop and my iPhone. Im literally constantly on it!!

Heading up the highway take the very next left after mile marker 28. That will put you right at the bottom of a big clear cut. Above the clear cut there is a huge ridge covered in big timber. If you get into that timber from the bottom or top you'll probably walk right into them. Perfect for an archery hunt. Good luck!

I WANT TO THANK THE PEOPLE WHO GAVE ME THE PMS, BEEN IN ELK EVERY DAY BUT THEY ARE SPOOKED UP REAL BAD, THIS IS A LOT HARDER HUNT THAN I THOUGHT. HOPE THE OTHER TAG HOLDERS DO GOOD!

The right-hand side of the hiway is open also. There's a gated road on the right and I think it's just before the 260? road that's on the left. Anyway the one on the right goes back about a qrtr mile and opens up into a big field and there's and alder bottom beyond that then the river.

The 260 I think it is goes up to an older clear cut also.
