Actually those trees aren't alders. Not sure what they are, they're similar to alders but they're not! Lots of alder and maple in this area, but for some reason the bucks chose these 3 or 4 trees to rub. And of course, notice the dates, all the buck activity I got was the first two weeks of November. After that, the bucks pretty much disappeared and all I get are the does. I think I did get at least one video of a buck on the 15th (first day of late rifle season). So that's good. Might have to plan on being there next year on that day. Only way I can figure to hunt this spot is with a tree stand. So if I decide to try that I've got some learning to do before next season.

In this one, notice the date, the buck is following this doe as if she's in heat (November 9)

So here's the interesting conclussion of all this- had lots of buck activity from about Nov 1 to Nov 12. Then it suddenly drops off to almost nothing. I did get one video of one buck on the 15th, first day of late rifle season, and it was late in the morning, so it's a buck that could have possibly been taken on that day, at that location.

The next chance at a buck would have been four days later, on the last day of the late rifle season. But a guy would have had to be in there at the crack of dawn for a chance at that buck, he was there at 7:15 in the morning. And that's it. Looking at all the videos that were during late archery/muzzleloader season, and there's nothing but does.

So it looks like if I want to hunt this particular spot, I will need a modern firearm tag next year.

Here are the two videos of the only bucks that showed up during daylight hours while late rifle season was open:

Looks like a willow tree. BTs will often hit them year after year.
