Do those things eat good?
I've never hunted them, heck never even seen one out of all the years I've hunted.  One day I would love to make it over to the coast for some a hunt.  I really want a long tail (I think that's what they are called) and a scoter for the wall.

I've never hunted them, heck never even seen one out of all the years I've hunted.  One day I would love to make it over to the coast for some a hunt.  I really want a long tail (I think that's what they are called) and a scoter for the wall.

 :chuckle: Hope you know how to cook  :chuckle: I see tons of those things right at the ferry docks. Never seen a long-tailed though  :dunno:

i shot a white wing scoter east of the columbia last year, no need to go to the coast :chuckle: and month ago i saw a small flock of three flying low along the columbia. ugly freaking birds but one of the goals i have as far as bird hunting goes for me. just need to get the other sub-species to finish the deal

A good buddy that I hunt with killed 2 last year....on the snake.

I wouldnt say rare....
We've killed a ton of them on the river in the TCs.  But never in a pond, so maybe that's the difference.

They taste fine.  I eat a lot of clam chowder made with scoter.


They're not called long tails unless you're a democrat.   Where I come from we call them old squaws.
