Weatherby reloader...please help.

Anyone reloading weatherby cartridges, my question is, since the shoulders are so steep do they resize stiffer than most standard shoulder cartridges? I'm FL resizing some .240whtby mag. The amount of pressure it seems to take to press the cart. into the die seems exessive. They seem to spec out fine once done.Just curious if I have something not adjusted right. Thanks.

Can not say I know much about loading weatherby cartridges but if they were shot out of YOUR GUN ONLY I would think it would be easier to just neck size them ,,,someone correct me if I am wrong

Yeah but went Fl cuz .240wthby mag is not a common round so when I found this set I jumped. May be looking to neck sizer not too far down the road.

I would say they take a little more force but not a crazy amount

I reload a .240 Weatherby mag, and they size just like any other..

I looked at two 240wby's today at the gun show. Had to fight real hard not to add one to the safe

Right on they just seem a little stiffer than I'm use too. Wondering of they are of a harder brass and the fact they are fired once brass.
 It's my Dad's gun but I did get it put in my name on the will. Have yet to see a deer even take a step after one round. It's a definite point and shoot regardless of yardage, at least it seems. Had a deer at 150yds as his ear flashed thru the crosshairs I touched off...gave him a third ear hole. Love that gun emmensely!

I have found that dirty or coroded brass has more drag,ialsolube inside of neck,also tumbling befor sizing may help.

Well don't know what changed but I pulled the die cleaned it with solvent,re-installed and presto blammo worked normal. Guess it just needed a bath? Although I saw no scoring ln the cases to show dirt??

I load for the 300 and do not see a difference from other large rounds. You do have more bearing surface so there is likely for resistance than a standard cartridge. As long as the cases are lubed and the die is clean the effort to resize shouldn't be all that great.

I made some 300WBYs with/for a friend and they seemed to full length resize just fine. Hope things work out for you.

You could also do a "partial-resize" on your bottleneck cases.  Saves some hardening of the brass, and you don't have to buy a neck-sizer.  I do it on my 338-06 and it works great.  Has seemed to help the accuracy compared to FL sized brass.

I find they require a little more force on the resize.  But I make sure they have been polished and oiled before entering the die.  Also like to clean the die out, oil and a cloth.  I wipe away the oil and leave just the film and it helps.
