One day left, what to do?
« on: December 30, 2012, 06:17:41 PM »
One day left to prevent tag soup.  Bait, sit, and wait has not been successful yet.  May go mobile on the last day.  Anybody else changing up their strategy on the last day?

I'm at a rest stop right now debating on sleeping here in my truck so I can hunt one more day. I've hunted hard the last two days including today and have had close calls but couldn't put it all together. My hunt tonight was ruined. I was all set up for the evening and had been glassing for 30-40 minutes when a guy came ripping down the road on a quad and took the quad right down the main trail the deer use that I was set up off of. at that point I said F-it and bailed out.  I have half a mind to road hunt tomorrow since still-hunting and ambush hunting hasn't worked out all year.
Every thought of my being is in regards to being a high tech predator and I relish the role.

Road hunting does work, despite it's negative reputation.  If nobody every filled their tag road hunting, nobody would do it!  With no other leads, that's what I'd be doing, certainly in the morning and evening.  Mid day you might find a timber patch to hunt.  Good luck!

And by road hunting I don't mean hope to see one in the road.  Drive and glass, drive and glass. . . . Cover as much ground as you can.

:yeah:, Drive at a crawl.....maybe stop now and again to look for a twitch or a wiggle... I tend to believe the game moves morning, noon and night.....

Good Luck!

x2 mid day is more productive for any type of hunting than most people give it credit for, even this time of year.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
