Lots of huntable public land (BOR, BLM WDFW, DNR) around Crab Creek. But USFWS lands are CLOSED to coyote hunting.

I thought you were trying to say other areas were closed. My bad.The only USFWS lands in WA open to coyote hunting is the Pend Orielle Refuge in NE WA.
Guess I need to figure out what USFWS stands for and what lands it includes.
OK, why is one of the most successful predators on earth not allowed to be hunted on the USFWS lands ?

Under federal law all National Wildlife Refuges are closed to hunting and closed to public access. It is up to the Refuge Manager to a) open the lands to public use/visitation and b) allow trapping, hunting, fishing. NWRs aren't "made" to be prime hunting spots, they are made to be wildlife refuges, essentially a no hunting area. So the fact that we are able to hunt and even access some NWRs is "lucky"
