Help with mountain coyotes.

I know some folks up near Arlington that  bought a large amount of property, well it turns out that there are some aggressive coyotes there. The neighbors are having issues with them also. 

They knew that I hunt and have done a bit of yote hunting. So this week I scoped it out, I could get them talking to me but couldn't get them to come in. I have several hundred acres available, but the dogs I shoot are here on island, and it appears the dynamic is different.

Anyone have any ideas?

Haha, it is hard enough to get permission! But if you have success with the dogs there, I might be willing to bring you with me sometime?

They may be already educated. The coyotes are starting to get territorial and aggressive and may not move off their territory too willingly but will come in if on their own territory. Try calling closer to where you are hearing them. If you are using vocals try to sound like a pair of coyotes. Or if you have a e-caller use the pair vocals. Don't over-do the vocals.

Or a good hardy dog. Yotes hate dogs.

  Since they are not game animals I would buy some cheap dog good and start baiting them.  Net they would go for that.  You could even feed them on a schedule.

Get to know a gamie and when you find a road kill give him a call and see about using it for a bait pile works here when I don't have 3 other hunters sitting on the bait pile

Try some challenge howls and group howls.  I have less success with them than distress calls but when it works they tend to come in fast and close in my experience

  Have they been called before? Is this a long term problem? Are they shot at alot by drive bys? or residents? Are they 90% nocturnal? Day light sightings?

Granted getting permission is tough  I had a coyote passing between my property and the neighbors the other day. I was not able to reach the swatter in time as it turned tail when I missed with the rock

They are seeing them both day and night. They aren't really getting shot at, and I was the the first to call them.

I used a mojo critter and a fox pro. I tried a locator right after dark, and then went out a few hours later, and used cottontail in distress.

if ya set up with shooting stix, anything 300 yrds, and under is a bird in the hand...Its nice to blast em at 5 yards, but they are just as easy to hit at 5 yards as they are at 300...maybe dont get greedy, take em when ya can.
