Hit the Willy yesterday...
« on: January 05, 2013, 08:57:24 AM »
Me and Robo met a buddy down at Kalama and headed to the Willy for some Sturgeon action....  Wasn't too bad of a day...  One oversize taped at slightly over 6 foot, one in the ballpark of 60+", several large upper scale Keepers size and a bunch of slightly under legal size...  Weather started out crappy- got better but stayed cold...  Tried out my new Shimano Trevala rod, (wanted to test it for how it handled bigger fish - wasn't planning this big of a fish test - it worked so no problem for big lings and rock bass. lol)

This hole was 120 foot, really good current, using sandies.  But smelt was the best overall for the rest of the day....  The rod is the 7 foot and is actually rated 10-30lb, Power: Light Action: Med.  It will replace all my Keeper/Shaker rods for now on and will be my go to for Lings and Sea Bass...  I was impressed with it and how it still had the power to stay with the big fish, but super light, could be perfect for all day jigging....   The real test for these rods be Florida, to be tested on Tarpon and Shark this coming May..

By the way, is your PM box empty yet?

I am ready to go... BUT..... Darn lights still aren't working, new plug and wiring back to original connections inside main beam...  Might just be on the truck, but everything else works, brakes, turn signals, flashers, but no running.....  Waiting til Tom gets home then I can hook up to his trailer and see if they work then, then I will know it is back to the boat trailer somewhere deep inside the rails maybe????  Auuuugh I hate electrical stuff...  Not my cup of tea...

Hey Mike, sometimes those fuses don't like it when you back the rig into the salt without unplugging the trailer first! :chuckle:

Yeah it was annoying but hey the guy is super cool and it was his gear besides he was catchin all the friggin fish !!!
