Wool, River's West, or an old Filson oilskin.

I had not heard of Arcteryx, thanks for sharing.  Looks like some high end stuff.  I only have one piece of KUIU but I can see that I will purchasing more in the near future. Seems like great gear.

Best rain gear for hunting is a pickup truck.

If you're talking about real rain, I only wear rubber and goretex because everything else eventually leaks and soaks somehow. :twocents:
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

The PU cab was my first thought.   :chuckle:

I've had plenty of Gortex leak.   :dunno:  This question might have different answers depending on the activity.  If I am in my boat, and not real active, I love my Hally Hansen overalls.  I've never been able to afford that high end stuff so don't know how well it works.

Kuiu is the most breathable quality rain gear I have ever used which is very important for hunting.  If I am going to be in a severe downpour though I always opt for my Arcteryx which just seems to stand up to endless ain a lot better.  It's also the same coat I use when I'm climbing Baker or on a Mountain Rescue mission so it says something about the quality.  :)

Supposedly Kuiu will be coming out with an outfitter grade of its chugach rain gear this year. The current Chugach gear has gotten really good reviews but is very expensive.

Supposedly Kuiu will be coming out with an outfitter grade of its chugach rain gear this year. The current Chugach gear has gotten really good reviews but is very expensive.

I sent this email to KUIU customer service:

(I am very interested in purchasing the Chugach Rain Gear for next years hunting season but I am curious if there are plans to make any changes or improvements to the gear in the near future.  I would hate to purchase the gear now and then miss out on some great new improvements.  I have read a few reviews that wish the jacket had neoprene cuffs and a longer tail in the back. Can you tell me if any of these changes are in the works?  Thank you, I appreciate any feedback your willing to share.)

Here is the response I received:

(Thank you for your interest in KUIU's Chugach rain gear.  Jason is ALWAYS developing new gear; that's the whole purpose for KUIU's existence.  KUIU gear also sells out really fast, so if you see something you like: get it while you can.  Some of the upgrades or modifications some hunters have not liked and they wish they purchased when it was available.  If you "wait to see", then you will never have anything because there will always be something else coming.

At this point, I do not think there are any changes being made to the Chugach Jacket or Pant.  That doesn't mean that Jason won't see something he likes in 4 months and want to make an adjustment!  That's just they way KUIU is.

Best regards,)

Nice to see that they actually respond.

I have cared to own far to much Gore Tex gear over the years that has FAILED! This was the biggest deciding factor in going with KUIU..so far very impressed and far superior to Gore
