First Smallmouths 2013

Got on the today water at 10:30 , started fishing at 40ft, noting for 1 hour, changed spots, started at 50ft and 10 minutes into dragging a jig....fishon on ! Ended up wit 2 for the day, both on the jig (fb with a hula) Tried drop shot, tubes ect, nothing on it, I will post a pic of the bigger fish, felt so good to get out on the water.....

I didn't know you could catch bass this time of year. Do you just jig deep water?  Please tell me more lol

That looks like Samamish?  Small mouth bass actually like cold weather but yes they are in deeper water.  You can ice fish for bass too.

Lake WA... typically for me,slow and low this time of year, but I have also caught them at 35-40ft in January. Water was 40-41 degrees, good luck to all !

Added a pic of the  the other fish I landed that day, thought I erased it....anyone else going winter fishing for em ? Im gonna hit it again next week, hopefully I can muster a few bites again,with some more pics......I know its cold and the bites are not furious, but I tell you what, no one to wait for at the boat launch, and having the lake to yourself....priceless..lol

Catching them this time of year defenatly deserves some credit.
Although I must say you look mighty cold.

Too funny Russ, your brave just asking....My wife goes with me when its 70 plus outside and when we are in eastern wa.....Good luck if you go, felt good just being out there, the fish was a kicker.
