Took my sons up to shoot in the guns for this season. My 4yo wanted to take "his" rifle along and do some shooin' as well.
Last time was his first real session, lots of instruction, etc.
He got to where he'd get the target in the scope and he'd whisper, "I got it Dad!" but he wouldn't shoot!
Then I'd say, "Well, then, shoot it!"
"Bang!"
But by then he was off the bull and all over the paper.
This time he had the concept down!
He's a real perfectionist, so it took a long time between shots. He needed just the right sight picture before he'd allow himself to shoot.
I set him up over a table, sitting on a chair, with a rest under the forearm of the gun, butthen I'd let him go... he did the rest all by himself.
It was the cut down and custom fit Savage 22 I fixed up for him, at 8 yards. He got 7 rounds fired before he got cold and couldn't keep on target and I made him quit.
He's real proud of the outcome! He knows he did this by himself!
Heck, I'm real proud of the outcome too! That's good shootin' for a 4 year old on his second session!!!
(When we got done, the 2 year old said, "I want to tryyyyy!"
Next time, Buddy!)
Thanks guys!
