I had the late cow tag too. Hunted up there a bunch. I found a bunch of elk but just couldn't get within my comfort range. It is tough. Like iceman said paving up to the dam didn't help. I didn't hear of anybody get cows.

I agree on the paving, that was a ridiculous waste of money in my opinion, and increased traffic up there significantly, which of course is what they wanted, just sucks for us.

Sorry you did not get an elk, hope you did not waste a lot of points on that hunt!

nope my first cow app. My dad and i have a friend and he gave us good advice. Only problem is he stopped hunting up there 15 years ago. We were up by the dam most of the time. Went into the fields once to check it out. Went there early season and they were logging right were we had planned on hunting. Saw no new sign, we figured that the rifle season pushed 'em out. After 7 days of hard hunting we finally gave in and went with our friends to the Winston. Yeah i know
. we got on Elk there but couldn't close the deal

Plenty of elk in the Wynoochee unit. You just have to ignore the fields and field elk and get in the brush.

I used to love wynoochee.
Remember all the usual crowd at turkey tracks?
How about the herds that would kick around south of Donkey creek to the river? Love it back in the day...
