The fat lady sang: Chukar season is over.
« on: January 22, 2013, 08:02:29 PM »
The fat lady sang her song on the chukar season. Thought I would share some pictures from the last couple of weeks.  Lots of snow and tough hunting most days.
This was the first year for Gabby and Gage. They are only ten months old. It was  a good year for the masters of the game, Addy and Cass. Addy is Gage's and Gabby's mother and Cass is their grandmother. I am pleased with the pups and their progress. What they have shown me will be honed and trained and then next year should be even better than this one.

Gabby with the last chukar of the season.

Gage with one  from the next to last day of the season.

Gage's last solo day in the sage with me. He was a rock star this day.  Good nose, lots of points and he retrieved well for not yet being force fetched.

Early January hunt with Gage and his mother Addy.

The veteran and grandmother to the pups, Cass.  If I ever have another dog like her I will be doubly blessed. She is the package when it comes to chukars and huns and quail.  I hunted her on quail last Friday and she was awesome. I did not own up to her abilities and shot like crap, but still came home with two quail. Left the camera at home, so this is a picture from an earlier chukar hunt. She found and chased down this cripple.

Addy with a hun. Also a cripple that she caught and retrieved.

Can't wait till next year.

Great pictures, and very nice looking dogs.  I went out yesterday, but the birds were so wild I could hardly get in the same zip code before they'd flush.

Nice dogs! Looks like a good hunt. I didn't get out much for those birds this season. Looking forward to next year.

That is living the dream right there.  Congrats on the fine ending to the season.  Good looking dogs to boot.

Good job

Only managed to scratch out a few chukar this last weekend due to heavy fog.

Monday was cold and foggy, but Lilly managed to find a few for me.  She'll be 12 in March.  I sure hope I do as well when I'm in my 80's!!

A friend of mine in Oregon has wirehairs and they are great chukar dogs, especially in the snow, since they handle the cold weather really well, and they are easier to see too.  Great pics Lee, fantastic.

Nice pictures Lee, you only made my envy of you guys on the eastside worse. I wish I could have made it out the last weekend. I am still planing on trying to talk you out of one of your dogs someday. As soon as work gives me enough time to really enjoy a great hunting dog I am going to. I cant wait for next year, and the whip whirl sound will echo in my head until then.
