Anyone shoot a T3 .300WSM?
« on: September 20, 2008, 08:21:27 PM »
I just picked one up today, needless to say its getting close to modern season. Does anyone shoot a Tikka T3 in .300wsm? Care to share which factory load you shoot and your accuracy? Might save me a little trouble  :)

I shoot one. 165 grain Federal Vital Shocks...dead on at 100 yards (as I usually dont shoot much farther than that)

Bought it last year, it has dropped a large sow and a deer without having to fire a second shot.

I can't speak on that caliber.  But, you'll love the Tikka T3!!!  I have a .270 and .30-06 T3's and they shoot and handle awesome!

I am shooting one this year.  Very please with the accuracy.  Have tried Fed Nosler 165's, but am going with Winchester 180grn Ballistic Silvertips.  1 1/2 inch groups at 200 yrds and I know I can do better with more practice.  Good luck.

Thanks, This is my 3rd T3, my other 2 are .243s (the kids) and they shoot great. I bought this one based on my experience with those. I have some fusion 165s I'm gonna try tomorrow.

I have one in the "real 300 Mag" :chuckle: and my Brother has one in the Pygmy mag(300wsm) :chuckle:, we argue about them all the time!! He just likes it cause he is used to short tools!
We both shoot(factory) Winchester Supreme 180 grain, both shoot one large hole groups. You like it!!

I love mine in 300WSM.  I have tried several different rounds.  Had good luck with Winchester XTP 150 GR.  But seems to prefer the Federal Supreme.  Trying out the Federal "Blue Box"  cheap stuff now, and really it shoots those pretty well too.  I have only taken one deer with it so far and that was less than 30 yards, and missed a coyote at 50.  I am shooting about an inch high at 100 yards.

I and a friend have matching Tikka T3 300wsm.
I shoot handloads but we both get excellent accuracy from HSM 180gr grandslams.
Cheaper than alot of other factory ammo and an elk-worthy bullet, too.

My T3 300wsm really likes the Winchester Supreme Accubond CT in 180g and at 200yds it will group under an inch.  It also likes the Federal Vital-Shok 180g Barnes TSX.  I prefer the TSX because the magazine spring is too soft to prevent the polymer tips from deforming from the recoil, but I doubt it has much effect on the bullet flight.

My Nephew has a Howa in 300wsm and it shoots an 1'' group with the Winchester power point 180gr ammo.(cheap ammo) This is on a bench with the lead sled at 100yrd. I hate recoil!
