With the lower numbers of elk that we seen up in the high country on the west side.  I'd say you should have a good hunt.  I'm thinking the heavy snow pack sent a bunch more elk to the feeding stations this year.

Good luck

OK. a very BIG moon ALL night long. 85 at 3pm.

2 Big Bulls in 3 days under 25 yards.  No bull tag.

I will tell you that all the bulls we heard and saw were quite high.

You have been there enough to know alot of the country. The weather has really changed so what we saw may not be the case anymore.

Go get 'em.

I've seen big bulls in all that country pictured.  If this is your first elk take teh first legal one you see.  I admire your perserverance, I think it should win an award on teh board.

ha well i dont know about an award but i will assure you that i am DOING my homework for these tags.
I will not be denied if i can help it and i feel that i owe that to all hunters to not waste thses tags.
.....it will be 5 below and snow 20 feet deep befor we come home empty handed.
anyways i cant wait to get over there....we are headed this weekend for our third and final scoutin triip, then to our DEER camp for 11-13 then we leave on the 17th.
So stoked.

Don't be an idiot and overscout.  I love seeing guys out carrying there guns and blowing the game out o ftheir hunt areas on the day and two days and three days before the season even starts.  THen the opener there is nothing.

pretty hard to control the number of people trashing your spot during the only week of east side modern deer season.  I have been told there is not much for deer hunting pressure  in the rimrock though???

Won't see many deer from the road.  I do know a couple spots where you would see some though.

Can't get bent out of shape with the jeepers.  You might have to bring an elk out on one of their trails and I'll bet you'd be might appreciative that they are there.  I know we have been over the last 20+ years.   Besides.  The elk are used to hearing them running around.  So I doubt they will effect you unless you are on the trail with an elk right close by.
