Looking to possibly buy a .40... anyone own a FNS-40?
« on: February 05, 2013, 05:38:34 PM »
I have been looking around the $600 range and thought the Glock would be the best bang for the buck, but the guy at the store today was pushing the FNS-40.  Looks like a nice pistol and I like that it has a safety.  Anyone own a FNS-40?  What do you think of it?  Do you think it is a better deal than the Sigs in the same price range.  I know the FNS-40 comes with 3 mags and the Sigs only come with one...  any opinions would be appreciated.

I have shot the fns-in .40 and 9mm, really good guns. I have a glock and a sig and I would put it in the middle between those two. I am trying to decide on getting a glock 9mm 4th gen and getting a fns-9

Are you sure he didn't mean the FNX-40?  I have an FNX-9, and liked it so much I sold my XD-40 and bought an FNP-40.
The FNX-40 and FNX-9 are the same gun.  The Owner's Manual is for both.  Nice thing about the FNX-9 is that you get three 17-round magazines, and 4 backstraps that are easier to change than the XD's.  And, being somewhat old-school, I like a hammer on my pistols.  The FNS is the new striker-fired FN model, and was unaware it came in those calibers.  :dunno:

If your looking for value in a great gun....don't overlook the ruger sr40 and sr40c I love mine and paid 419.99 new at sportsmans warehouse.  Mine is the sr40c and it came with the 9 round and 15 round mags.

:yeah: And if you see one available at a good price, get it!  Ruger is so swamped they aren't taking orders until they get caught up with production.  As is the case with all the other gun manufacturers these days...

I went shopping today and handled a lot of pistols.  I feel like I am leaning toward the smith and wesson m&p 40 now.  It felt the best in my hands.  I am contemplating taking a trip to Bullseye to try and shoot some of the models I have been looking at.

S&W mp 40 is a great gun. I know several with it and never had one jam or hesitation. I shot them many times and they felt great to shoot. Great gun

Yeah, there is .40 S&W to be had.  It will cost you, but it is out there.  I was amazed that it took a week to sell the stuff I had in the classifieds....and I still have a few boxes pending payment.  For those looking....keep posted, I am trying to get more to sell and pass on some savings to the HW members....cross your fingers.

I just picked up 100 rnds of Remington .40 cal FMG (for paper punching) at Sportmans for 19.00 bucks a box of 50.

They did not have allot, but the better ammo was going for over a $1.50 a bullet  :yike:

I went to the store to compare the glock 22 and S&W M&P.  Ended up stepping a little out of my price range and going for a lightly used H&K P2000.  I know I wont be dissapointed.  I figured that I wasnt looking to add to my collection, rather I was looking to purchase "my pistol" so it would be worth buying what I really wanted.  Cant wait to get it.  Wish I thought in advance and got my concealed  :bash:  Any suggestions for ammo or holster for this gun?
