can i interchange reloading dies?

I HAVE AND RCBS PRESS. WAS WONDERING IF I CAN USE DIFFERENT BRAND DIES ON THE RCBS PRESS?

As far as i know dies and presses all use the same thread size/pitch so you can do this. I've been told different about Dillon but cannot verify that as a fact.

i think the only ones that arent interc hangeable are the dillon 550 dies.  but yes, all others should interchange just fine

Yes. most dies use a standard 7/8"x14 thread.  Lee, Lyman, Hornady, Redding dies all work.  And for older dies that are a smaller thread, an adapter can be had.  I even have an old set of Herters dies that are standard thread...

I know,.. but how bad are lee or hornady dies?  I mean either I pay $80 for rcbs or $40- for lea or hornady.
in what ways would they be bad compared to an rcbs die? 

I am new to reloading. a friend of mine gave me an rcbs press, powder dispenser, and case trimmer.  and I am always broke so I want to keep it as cheap as possible.

Lee equpment is not your limiting factor in turning out quality handloads.

Lee dies work just fine and for a long time.
In fact, their 45ACP carbide factory crimp die is the must-have.
I don't know why people rag on Lee.....

Buy the RCBS dies they are guaranteed for the rest of your life and your kid's also.

My latest Natchez Shooters flyer has RCBS Carbide 9x18 dies for $71.99, or Hornady 9x18 dies for $39.99.  With the carbide dies, you won't have to lube the cases to resize them.  (except for nickel-plated brass.)  The Hornady dies are a good value, especially with their bullet guide sleeve that saves pinched fingers.  Unless you are going to do a LOT of reloading in that caliber, I would go with the Hornady dies.  That being said-- my .380, 9mm, .40, and .45 dies are RCBS Carbide.
