22-250
« on: February 23, 2013, 10:47:42 AM »
I am trying some new loads for my 22-250.  This wasnt my first choice of powder and bullet but with the lack of stocked shelves this is what I am working with.  Anyone see anything wrong with this. 50 rounds, 10 rows, shots of 5, here is my data.  Rows 7-10 went to a "compressed" load.  Shake test, I could hear the powder Rows 1-6, I could not hear the powder in rows 7-10.

Here is Hodgon Data link for 22-250 link - http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp
I don't know where did you get the data (I looked online myself)since I couldn't find any for the cartridge with that powder .Just by looking at the table available for other powders ,your loads might be little excessive . If I were you I'd call Hodgon and ask them  :twocents:

I've got an email into them with the above chart/info and wont shoot until I hear back from them.
I was hoping to find different powder but with every store from Federal way to the tricites lacking powder the Superformance was all I could find.  Thanks for the links and opinions!!

An update for anyone curious.
Just got off the phone with Hodgon,  I asked if all will be well with safety if I shoot a 55gr bullet on top of 43grs of superformance, he said that all will be well.
43 grs of superformance is the max load for a 60gr bullet, so with a 55gr bullet, he stated I will survive with no injuries to me or the gun.  Going to hopefully get out this weekened to test these loads and see what happens.
