A few Coho from this week
« on: September 25, 2008, 07:13:12 AM »
Been doing a little fishing this week when I should be out deer hunting instead...

Monday morning I headed to the mouth of the Toutle after getting a decent report. Saw some fish hooked but none by me. I decided to drive up the valley and fish closer to the mouth of the Green. I ended up getting this nice little hen on about my 10th cast. She was a little colored up, but the eggs looked great.

After talking to my buddy who gave me the report, he said it was better at night at the mouth (fishing in the Cowlitz). So, he talked me into going last night when he got off work at 9pm. We got to the river around 11pm and we fished until 5am this morning. Between him, his dad, and I, we bonked 7 fish and lost quite a few more. I ended up with 3 fish. I just got done getting the eggs started curing, and now I'm off to get 45 minutes of sleep before I have to meet my dad's buddy to do some tractor work, and I've been up for 26 hours straight now... :yike:

Man it must be nice to be so young.  I remember doing that sort of 36 plus hour straight fun stuff too.  I wish I were in your shoes.

Getting ready to head back down there on my one hour of sleep...the crappy thing is, those three are punched on today, so I can only keep 3 more before midnight...  :chuckle:

Well, just got home from the mouth again. A different buddy got 3 and I just got this nice little chrome hen. We walked out of there with 4 fish, but we had 16 skeins of eggs... :IBCOOL: I didn't make this goofy face on purpose...I think it was just the one hour of sleep in 40+ hours catching up to me.  :chuckle:
