Nice job Alyssa.  We shot one on the Chehalis about 14 years ago, it acted just like the woodies.  As far as I know, it's still in the taxidermist's freezer (he was the shooter).

I've never heard of the mandarin.  Where do they usually live/nest?  you have some more info on them? Very beautiful mount/duck.

 It's an Asian wood duck. They have been raised in captivity and of course some escape, so there is a wild population, but still very rare. Farm ducks useualy have their nails clipped.
