March Clamming

If they open up the late March clam season (minus tides  ) we are going to make a family trip out to the coast and do some clamming. Usually we do day trips, but with my sons birthday falling on that weekend we thought we would make a weekend trip out of it. I have been to twin harbors, but was thinking of heading to some of the northern beaches, Copalis and Mocrocks. What is everyones experience with the northern beaches? Are the clams the same or better than down south? Where is a good place to stay that has a clam cleaning station? I look forward to your feedback and thanks.

Last December my son and I got limits on Long Beach but not on the northern beaches, i.e. Mockrocks.  It may have been partly due to bad weather.

My wife and I went this past weekend to Long Beach again and got our limits on both Sat and Sun.

I was up at Copalis a couple of weeks ago with some other folks and found it was thicker than twin harbors(at least from my experience), we got there late on the tide and still got limits within an hour.

Copalis is by farmy favorite area. I think more,bigger clams. My wife and I are going to leave the trailer home one of these times and stay at Iron Springs resorts.. Walk out front to excellent clamming!

I like Mocrock better than all the rest of the beaches.   Seem to have bigger clams, but isn't open as often as the other beaches.. Good Luck, should be morning digs by then.....

Clam anywhere between Iron Springs and Copalis Rock and you'll get clams.  Iron Springs Resort has a very nice cleaning station too.  The Best Western and Shilo Inn in Ocean Shores also have nice cleaning stations.  The Shilo's has warm water too so your hands don't freeze.

The southern beaches would be your "clam" beaches.  The northern beaches would be your "quality clam" beaches.

Holy cow! Which beach did you get that clam off of if you don't mind me asking? I gotten some big ones at Twin Harbors when the tide was at its lowest, but I don't think they were that big.
