How to get a firearm in your kids name?
« on: March 02, 2013, 11:11:17 AM »
Is there anyway to get a firearm in your kids name ( kids under 18 ).
Say you give it to them for a gift.

With all these states passing laws that you can't transfer some guns , even to your own kids. Wants me to get something to say that it was gifted to them.

Since there is no gun registration, there's no way, and no need, to put a gun in your kids name. The government has no business knowing who owns what.

Um, hand it to kid... End of story...

The gun is not really "in your name" anyway... The only place the serial ans your name are together are on the 4473.

:yeah: And the 4473 stays at the gun shop.  If the gun shop goes out of business, the 4473's are sent to storage in a warehouse in Atlanta.  Ever see the warehouse at the end of the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark"?  :chuckle:
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Kids under 18 cannot legally own firearms.  They can use them, but could not go into a store and purchase them until they are 18 or in the case of handguns, 21.
It is better to be consistently incorrect than inconsistently correct...

Actually someone who is 18-21 can own a handgun, they just can't buy it from a dealer or get ammo. But they can legally posses a handgun on their (or family) property, and transport it. They cannot carry, but even that has some loopholes to it... Legally a private party can sell a handgun to someone 18-21, or in a case like this they could give it to their kid.
