Trapping for a newbie
« on: March 03, 2013, 12:40:47 PM »
Hello,
I was wondering if you can trap anywhere or if WDFW gives you a certain area?

Also, after you have pelts, where do you sell them to?

After you flesh it, stretch it and dry it.  Talk to Trapperguy22 on here.  He is a recieving agent for NAFA.

In the Trapper Ed manual WSTA produces there is a real good book on pelt preperation and a list of WA fur buyers and receiving agents for the international auction houses. WDFW online version doesn't include that. That is why we encourage people to pay for our manual. It is so much better then the online version.

This the imformation from the WSTA home page. Trapper Education Classes- Schedule & Information

All first-time Washington trappers, regardless of age, are required to successfully complete Trapper Education training or successfully challenge the written examination process. The Washington State Trapper's Association sponsors one course each year at our Summer Rendezvous (date below). Location and time varies from year to year.

Other classes are scheduled as interest dictates. Please contact George Brady at (509)923-2326 or contact person listed at the bottom of the page to register for the next class.

Trappers Education Home Study Option
We think students will get more out of a class but the home study option is available. You can get a manual by contacting George Brady at (509)923-2326. The cost is $15. You may contact one of our Course Instructors that are nearest you to make arrangements to challenge the written examination process.

Washington State Trappers Association is offering a half price membership for anyone taking the Trapper Training class.
