Picking a place to start.
« on: March 06, 2013, 11:18:12 PM »
Ok ,  sure its not just me, but I'm having a hard time deciding where  to strt my hunt .
All the info I've gathered is so vague on where to find turkeys.
   Some say N.E.  some  S .E . Where can I find some campgrounds ?
     Anything helps
Fear God , love life, and stay humble .

Lots of campgrounds all up and down Lake Roosevelt, Hunters Rice, Daisy, Fort Spokane.  Good area to hunt if you can avoid the crowds, go get a DNR map that shows all the DNR and BLM land and get to work.

You find turkeys from getting out there.  More area, birds and campgrounds in the northeast

Are there any inexpensive cabins at any campgrounds east of Republic? There are some good ones in Republic, but I don't know about farther over...

You can find turkey anywhere east of the summit of 90/2 where there are Fir trees.  I could give you many locations, as I no longer live in Wa, but it might make a few people a little hot  :chuckle:  But, if you scout around Ellensburg on the south side of 90 in da woods, you can find a few birds.  If you are full bore and heading to the NE corner head north from Spokane and once you are in Deer Park and north you can find lots of birds, and LOTS of hunters. But get way back in the woods, beyond any gate. Yep, leather power and you will find less pressure.

Walt Alpine - Kettle Falls has campgrounds, Colville has the fairgrounds campground and a private one ... to name a few.

NWTF Hunter - Merriams are a pine forest bird.

Turkeydancer,

Pines, Fir, Cedar, Spruce,.... = Conifer.  Should have used Conifer instead.  :hello:
