Today could be a nice day for a walk in the woods.

Joe....in a perfect world I'll get a spring bear and keep a whole ham intact. I'm sure we can figure out a good way to cook it.

   I'm willing and able to help pack out dead animals, and decent enough with a knife to get a couple roasts off it before the rest goes to the butcher!

Well...we went, explored, and even hunted. Not much to report...no new peels or sign. Very nice to be out and about.

It was a nice day.  Any day is a good day for walk in the bear woods. You will start seeing increased sign in about 2 weeks.
D-Rock, you are welcome to shot ducks off my patio also.  I still haven't heard if the bank accepted our offer. Should hear something today.

I would say you can plant all the apple trees you want. Just like if you planted your own blackberries or any other natural browse. The feeder would be considered baiting. Just wait till the silly bear is done with the seed and working on a naturally ripened and fallen from the tree apple.....BOOM! Bear down!

There is already a deep ravine behind the property lined with blackberries. There is a nice creak back there also. Food, water, cover, sounds like bearidise to me!

So...my plan Sunday is to still hunt a blind I've got set up. I'll be packing my bow and my 870. My "killing field" is not very big. I will be setting up a caller on the far side from me and using a fawn distress. If a bear comes in the plan is to stick 'em. If a yote comes in the plan is to blast him with the 12. Any suggestions on calling duration for the fawn distress?

Might be a little early for fawn distress.

Not for yotes.....I figure what can it hurt. Any bears out early may assume that fawns are dropped also. I know I've got deer traffic in the area.
