Scope Advice

I need to get a new scope for my deer/elk rifle.  What do you recommend. Prices vary do much at what point does the price jump so much that what you get is not truly justified. Recommendations?

Take a hard look at the Leupold VX-6 line.  The glass is awesome.  You can get a free CDS dial to fit your ballistics.  I have only looked through a 2-12 model but I'm intrigued by the 3-18.  Either would be good on any deer/elk rifle.
And how can you beat made in the USA with a lifetime warranty?

I've noticed that with glass you can generally see the jump in price in the performance, i.e. I can't see a law of diminishing returns.  Well for traditional looking scopes.  I guess if you jewel encrust it and add bling, then yeah.  But the first noticeable jump is when I have gone to scopes like Leupold and that was an eye opening jump over what I used previously. Having used Swaros, I notice quite a bit of improved performance over my older scopes, including the mid-level ones.

Leupold VX-II in a 3-9x40. Should be about $300. Great scope for the money.

I've got one of these on my 30-06, though there is a black spot when I look in the muzzle end, I hear their customer service is really good.  It is still a good scope.  However, I also have a variety of Bushnells and other "cheap" scopes and have never had a problem with any of them.

If hunting in a point restriction area, I would consider a scope that will go to 12X.  I had a hard time trying to tell if a deer I was watching at 150 or so yards had the needed point with the 9X a couple years ago.

The Redfield scopes, which are made by Leupold, are great for the money. Bought my son one, and it has performed flawlessly.
