I need to step back a little
« on: March 11, 2013, 07:31:02 PM »
I've been a bit under the weather lately. :( An acute bout with a Sinus Infection, plus a bout with High Blood Pressure. :( Not to mention a little episode that I am going to have some tests on to find out what the heck is going on. :( My Chiropractor thinks I may have had a slight stroke. My right side is quite a bit weaker, I'm unsteady on my feet and my Rock Solid, Steady hands have gotten so that I can't hold my camera steady. :( So photography has been out for several weeks. :(

So, for a few weeks I need to back away from the Mod job in the photo area until I can figure out what is going on. It's just to hard for me to concentrate and get things done; plus my computer is still messing up. :( I'm not quitting, I just need the time off to recuperate.

Thank you everyone! :) I'll get through this one way or another. :) I'm just a bit weak, a bit depressed, a lot scared and really bummed ot because I can't shoot my bows or take any photos that aren't blurry as hell due to the shake and unsteadiness of my hands; but I will get better!

Thanks for the pictures and I’ve prayed for you.  Get rest and try to keep your spirits up.

I would like to Thank Each and Every One of you Dear Friends for The Well Wishes and Prayers! I really appreciate them and it sure gives me a warm feeling in my heart!!

I did indeed have a Stroke. It was confirmed yesterday by my Medical Doctor and a full battery of tests. Ultrasound tests, EKG tests, Blood Pressure tests, X-rays, and MRI's were done along with 17 different Blood Tests made for an 8 hour and very tiring day. The results from the Blood tests aren't back yet, but every thing else is. My Doctor called me at 6 p.m with those results.

He told me that I was very LUCKY that it happened while I was up walking around and that I continued to walk for a few minutes afterwards. He went on to say that if I had not been active things would have been worse because the stroke was on the left side of my brain that controls my right side of my body and my speech center. Being active at the time kept my right side from being totally paralyzed and  me speech taken away for quite a while.

Instead I just suffered minor losses in my muscle tone and mobility controls. I am going to have to walk with a cane for a while for support and steadiness for a while. I am going to have to learn to rely on my left hand to do a lot of things until I can retrain my right hand. Then I am going to have to start doing a lot of Physical Therapy to rebuild my motor functions. The tough part is that I may not be hand holing my 400 mm lens any more, but with the use of a tripod or a monopod I should be back to taking photos as quickly as possible. I will, or should be back to shooting my bows sometime, but that depends a lot on my progress and determination.

I have Got to get better really quickly because I have Cub Scouts to teach archery too in June and I Don't Want To Disappoint Them! Plus This Year is the year of a phenomenal Salmon Run and I Do Not Want To Miss It by having to sit home!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dick,

So glad to see you went to the doc to get answers as to what happen.  Sorry to see this happen though, I wish you all the best in recovering by June for the scouts as I know it means a lot to you

Seeing as I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on the internet, I suggest you follow your doctors orders, and always know that there will be a place by my fire pit with your name on it anytime you need a rest and to shoot the bull.

No, you need to step back a LOT!  Strokes are nothing to fool with--wishing you a speedy and complete recovery....
