World class catfishing
«
on:
March 16, 2013, 06:51:00 PM »
Went down to the James River today to watch the weigh in of the Big Cat Tournament near Richmond, VA. A blue catfish of just a tad over 70 pounds won the tournament. Saw several in the upper 50s, a couple of 40s and lots of 30+ pound blues. I live within a couple of miles of the Potomac River and they have very nearly the same fishery of blues on the Potomac. 40s and 50s are not rare. I should have all my gear by early next week and I will be getting after some hog blues!! Can't wait to hook into one of these dudes!

Looks like loads of fun. I remember fishing the Santee Cooper area in South Carolina when I was stationed down there. All kinds of things, including freshwater striper fishing and big cats. Along with squirrel hunting...which was always time well spent.

Love cats....caught some nice ones growing up in the midwest. Most, if not all of those, look like blues. Most noodlers are catching flatheads.
