Checked out one of these at Bob's today. Was really impressed by the weight (or lack of) and the stock. The gun shoulders real nicely and sure is light weight. It's also bedded well. However, I'm not sure I like the slop in the bolt, specifically during extraction. Maybe this is for weight reduction? All in all, nice muzzleloader.

What was the price at Bob's?
MSRP is 900 bucks...  :yike:

I think they are in the $750 neighborhood on the R&R website... I wonder what Bob's is charging... I think Sportsman's ordered 40 of them so they may have gotten a better price break than Bob's.  Who knows...

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

would those peep site work on leupold quick release bases.

I do not think so it has to have the Weaver slot in the base...
will you use those same bases as your scope mount and will the peep be zeroed if you take it off and on.
Iam looking at knights website and there quick release weaver bases and rings should work with the peep on negc website is that your set up.If so iam ordering tonight i have been looking for this kinda setup for awhile.
Hey guys, don't mean to  :beatdeadhorse:  But the Leupold qr bases do work in this application.  I have used that set up for a while now.

You are correct - I did not know that Leupold had a QRW base - I guess I was thinking more of their QR base system like this..

Just an update on my progress or lack there-of

Really thought I was going to get an opportunity to shoot today... but it is not going to happen... It is Vandal Friday on campus and we have a family friend bringing their daughter over for the event from Portland, the parents are bunking here. So my time is not going to come today...

But just as an update - I pulled the BP and pushed .458, 452, and 40 cal. sabots through the bore.

All sabots loaded very well and most importantly the Orange MMP, the HPH-24 and the big thick MMP Blue 40x50 sabot all loaded as I wanted and needed. No need of the Crush Rib or the 3p-EZ Load sabot for loading...

I hear you I have 2 knights. I sold one to a good guy today from the forum. it needed a new home as I have 2 pretty much bighorns all ready. needed the cash for a new toy. looking at getting a disc extreme in the camo stock version with the thumbhole stock about to pull the trigger on one. the wife will probably be mad but ive wanted one of these for a while. :chuckle:

I've been scouting the Knight website for some time now trying to figure out my next purchase. I've read this thread several times. Does the Ultra-lite come with the Western Kit as an option? Does it cost more? I really don't see it there on the info for the ultra-lite but websites can lag. If it's going to cost me more than the estimated $699 I think I'm going to have to pass. Thanks for the help.

Welcher's in Tacoma had one of each color in stock the other day...Might want to call and check the price there. I know it's much cheaper the Knight has them for

Before I go asking dealers I just wanted to make sure the Ultra-lite comes with the western for the base price, and not some additional inflated cost.

It is an option.  You can order it with the Western Kit or the 47 state legal 209 shooter.  If you order the gun with either option the price is basically the same.  If you order it with both options the price does increase for the extra blot housing and breech plug.

Most of the dealers in the Pacific Northwest have ordered it with the Western Kit installed.

I think you can find it at Bob's Sporting Goods in Washington for very near that price. Also Ranch and Home and Sportsman's Warehouse have it for about $45 more.

I agree it is an expensive rifle - darn expensive, but for myself since I use it for both rifle hunting and ML hunting - it works out OK.  One of the big causes of the price tag is the Kevlar stock that it comes with - Kevlar stocks with the aluminum bedding block are darn expensive.  But again for me in Idaho going up and down all the time (flat ground is hard to find here)  the weight reduction is huge.

Ya!, you an I both - I really want a thumbhole!  At this time there has been no mention of a TH but, I can not believe down the road that is not going to happen.  It is really expensive for them to request a new stock mold.... BUT it has got to happen - then of course you could drop the ULite in your Extreme Thumbhole.
