Folks not buying a turkey tag this year!!
« on: March 23, 2013, 04:49:34 PM »
I have chosen not to buy a turkie tag this year. But I have talked to a batch of the guys I consider semi pro's over here and they all share the same thought's on the 60 buck turkie tag!!!

Even thought they have birds in the yard they aren't gonna buy a tag!! These are places I have a green light to go shoot!!

One buddy has close to 300 birds in the pasture right now!!
Could be interesting if this is a trend.

15.90 for each tag and 22 bucks for small game with big game = almost 70 bucks. Gives me a reason to come up!!

The tags only $15, don't most people buy the small game license anyway? I skipped buying the small game license a couple years ago, but regretted it because I was getting bobcats on my trail cams but couldn't hunt them.

No--A wild turkey is nowhere near being the same as a Butterball from Safeway!  :puke:
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I'm struggling with buying any hunting tags due to the ineptitude of the WDFW in their wolf management and the loss of resources over here!!
Sad part is I'm in deep enough on a sheep tag I need to figure out just how to put in for it only!!

You CAN apply for sheep, moose, and mountain goat, without buying any type of hunting license. All you need is the application for each one. So if you just want to apply for sheep, and only sheep, then this year will cost you about $14.

That's why non-residents like applying for our OIL species, they don't need to buy a license to do so. Only the applications.

Only one left on my bucket list in this state is a sheep or a wolf!!!

Guess I'm gonna get off cheap this year!!

Thanks Bobcat!!

True, although a non-resident sheep application costs about $115.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

Well, before last year it was only $50. It would be interesting to see how much, if any, of a decrease there was in non-resident app's when the price went up.

I'm buying the small game and big game tags regardless of turkeys, so my cost is a whole $15.00.  For the amount of fun I have, that is money well spent.  It is a fair stretch of time between the end of January and September.  Turkey season comes before fishing gets good and before my garden chores kick in.  That $15 is the best value I'll have all year.  It is like a ticket to an oasis in the desert.

I've got em' in my pasture and have no desire to shoot one.  I don't care for the taste anymore.  I probably shot over 100 of them when I was a kid in Tennessee and Alabama.  Shot a few here as well, kinda got tired of them.  To me it's not worth the $$.  With all that said, if my daughter wants to go for one that is okay but she does not seem interested at this time.
