Greybull Precision Optics. (built by Leupold)

Anyone used these scopes?  Leupold builds these specifically for Greybull Precision. If my searching is right these offer 1/3moa more turns =1000yrds while the VX3LR is 1/4moa maxxing out at 650ish. Also these have windage and the VX3 doesn't? Am I totally wrong ? Was originally thinking NF for my 1000yrd gun but they are heavy.

.  I think so can you go past one revolution? I'm new to all this long range stuff. Was talking to a guy last week that is real into it and he told me to check them out. He has all the big name scopes and prefers this one over all the others. Just trying to figure out the difference from this one and a regular VX3LR.

Sounds like what you're interested in is the total MOA adjustment range.  The larger the range, the further you'll be able to dial it up.

Can you give me a little more info on what cartridge and bullet you are running?  I will run the numbers for you and see.  The VX3LR scopes have 15MOA per rev on them.  Most magnums or guns shooting high bc bullets typically don't have any issues getting 950-1K in 1 rev at elevations above 1500'.  Again, give me the bullet and velocity and I will run the numbers for you.  I put the standard VX3LR 4.5-14's on quite a few builds for guys and they work well.  The Greybull does have marks for windage on the Reticle which is nice, but you can save money my just having Leupold install an elevation knob and a TMR reticle to do the same thing.  For their asking price, a guy can find a NF 3.5-15 used for slightly more money and have a better scope.

You can go past one revolution for sure. I get one spin to 650 yards but have marks all the way out to 1200 yards on my dials. You can have leupold make you windage dials as well. I think the vx3 has like 90 moa adjustment. Once you sight your gun in you will lose some of it for sure. I have not shot this new load past 500 yet but even tough my dial goes to 1200 I am not sure if I have enough adjustment left to get me there.

Have any of you tried the new Burris Eliminator III with the x96 recital? looks pretty sweat for only $1500 compared to some of the other big name brand scopes?

The 1/3 and 1/4 moa clicks are more about the precision of your shot placement and the speed of your adjustment. The total moa in a scope has more to do with the diameter of the tube. Most LR scopes are 30 mm or larger 75+ moa of adjustment and your standard hunting scopes are 1" roughly 50 to 65 moa.

I could be wrong but it looks like about 22 moa of elevation with a zero of 100 out to 1000

For the kind of money your talking about their are lots of great options out there.

Looks like you would get out just over 800yds on 1 rotation.  If you handload, you should get much more velocity than that.  7RM's and WSM's will run a little higher than 3150fps with the 168's.  Getting that rig up to the speeds it should be and you would be close to 1k in a single revolution.

[/quote].   Those are reloads. I just bought the rifle Saturday. The guy who built it gave me 50 shells and the reload specs . He ran it out to 1000yrds with a VX3LR 6.5x20 (maybe 22 ) .
