ORV enthusiasts? EDIT: Van Epps Mine trip 6/12-13
« on: April 10, 2013, 10:26:01 PM »
Any ORV enthusiasts on the site? I normally don't drive to any destinations. But I've been wanting to get up to Van Epps pass for a few years now. I haven't been able to talk anyone into going yet. I don't have a high-clearance vehicle. I've considered just hoofing it up. I will probably use my two feet this summer If I can't talk anyone into driving.

It would be interesting to check out the old mine site. I would also like to fish Spirit Lake and maybe scramble up Harding.

Anyways, let me know if anyone is interested in the area for a summer trip. I'd be willing to pay for gas and dinner/lunch also.

That looks like a fun run in the Jeep. I'll have to put that on my bucket list. When were you thinking about going?

What mine site are you talking about?  Is it around St. Helens ?

Jeepasaurusrex,  I'd like to go as early as possible.  I was thinking around the last week of July.  It depends when road becomes drive-able.  Sometimes those high pass roads get pockets of snowdrift into the early summer.

Boss .300.  This particular ORV road is up off the teanaway.  It goes up on a ridge by the Kittitas/Chelan county line.  There's a few old mine shafts I guess.

I've been talking with a bunch of other 4-wheelers about this trip. That time of year sounds about right to be able and make it to the top.

Sounds like a good run for the ol' KLR650 as well... hey jeepasaurus, figure we could easily fit the bike in front or behind the jeep on that awesome trailer you got, right?  :chuckle:

I'd be all  about hiking in to fish spirit lake, too.  What's in it?

The Jeep rides nice the farther forward it is. There should be plenty of room after the Jeep, or in the back of the truck.  :chuckle:

Overnighter sounds cool to me.  Would give plenty of time to hike in the wilderness to fish Spirit Lake.

I don't hike anymore (3 knee surgeries, need a 4th) so I could hold down the fort at camp.
