Were in the state would you go?
« on: April 12, 2013, 04:51:03 PM »
If you could dedicate the next two days to shed hunting in Washington. What area would you head to? I feel like going for a little road trip (I’m in Seattle) and figured why not combine some shed hunting along with it?

Nah, not trying to be sneaky. Was thinking more like “north central”, “southeast”, general answers like that.  More wondering about timing in different areas of the state. I’m originally from CT and most of my time out here has been spent on the peninsula, not familiar with the east side. But hey, if you want to give me some honey holes, I wouldn’t put my fingers in my ears..  :chuckle:

LOL... :yeah:

Seriously tho, Your lucky.  A shed huntn roadtrip would be awesome, I am stuck closer to home for day trips here and there. Maybe later this spring.....

What kind of sheds are you looking for, Deer? and if so what species? Blacktails..... Good luck. Whiteys or Muleys pick any of the popular spots and give it a shot finding the wintering grounds isnt hard, figuring out access and hiking to find locations thats the adventure.  Elk? Thats ez... If I had your time I would go eastside.  I have never found a real GOOD elk shed so thats something that I would like to try. Same thing goes for elk as for deer.

But I REALLY want to find a moose shed. so If it was me I would head toward the northeast. I have no idea where to go to look for any of the above, but thats what I find fun about sheddn is exploring new areas and hiking alot of miles.  :chuckle:   Good luck and Have fun!!

Lol I kinda figured on these responses, especially with my low post count. I’m headed east either way. Wanna check out the country on foot, having only driven through it. Mostly just want to get a bunch of exercise, shoot some pics, and have a chance at stumbling across a shed.

Its got nothing to do with post count. If that's really all you want to do, go for a hike somewhere.

Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I would wait a week. This crazy spring snow storm is not gonna help your chances of finding a shed in some of the good areas IMO.

:yeah: I would head to the eastside, it's waaaayyyy easeir to spot sheds over there, but there is also a bit more competition. I was out today and got skunked, westside.
“In common with”..... not so much!!
