Newest Model 70 Addition
« on: April 17, 2013, 06:10:40 PM »
Just picked up this NIB FN South Carolina made, 2008 Limited Edition Model 70 Featherweight Deluxe in .270 Winchester.  Pictures just don't capture just how nice this rifle really is.  Nice figure up both sides and the butt portion is absolutely gorgeous on both sides.  Seems to be about 6 1/2 lbs.  I'm obviously a sucker for nice wood.  :chuckle:

Beauty. I'd be afraid to use it but its a beautiful rifle.

Don't know as I just picked it up today.  Will be scoping it next week.  This is what Winchester has to say about these new Model 70's.....

Guaranteed Accuracy
Do the rifles come with an accuracy guarantee? Yes. In its promotional material Winchester says, "you can expect 1 MOA accuracy for three-shot groups from your Model 70 using a properly managed barrel, quality match ammo and superior optics under ideal weather and range conditions.".

From all reports these new FN Model 70's shoot quite well, some thinking they are the best shooting 70's ever.  People I have talked that reload and have one of these new rifles, basically say the same thing. We'll see.

Ive heard the same thing about the FN models, a definite upgrade in accuracy over the new haven models. Lets us know when you get out to the range.

I have two older featherweights, one made in 87 in 7x57 and another in 6.5x55, probably made in in 90 or so. Both shoot under an inch with my hand loads. The 7x57 is my high hunt gun. That one beautiful rifle, Enjoy.

Nice figure for sure.....the wrist grain looks a bit spooky, though it may just be the pic.

So how did this shoot for you?  I just got one in 270 WSM, I am very excited to shoot it.

I am a huge M70 fan.  But I haven't heard many good things about the new FN guns.  I am curious what you think about it.
