Fishfinder question (kayak)

So I have decided that I need a fishfinder to go on my kayak.
The problem is this: I have no clue how the battery thing works. I know that there are portable models, but I am looking at a few that I like that are not the portable models  (specifically the Humminbird 561 DI) So if I were to get a model that does not say portable, could I some how rig up a battery system in my kayak  (I was informed that portable models had there own battery pack.)

I will also add that I want the for finding structure (Puget Sound Lingcod/Rockfish [if it ever opens again]).

I used to fishing from my kayak a lot when I lived in sc, at RadioShack you can get a 12 volt battery pack that used AAs, I used rechargeable ones and had two sets.

You can also get the small sized 12 volt batteries that are not very heavy but have enough of a charge for a day or two of running a fishfinder.  Good job looking at the Humminbird, great customer service.  Mine even survived two days under water in the salt.

If you check out northwestkayakanglers.com you'll see lots of rigging ideas.  I use a lithium battery from a cctv setup and it has 9000 mah on it.  That works for a long time on a fish finder.

I liked the Hummingbirds because when I was comparing the prices between Hummingbird and Lowrance, it seemed that I get a little more with the Hummingbird. And if it can survive me flipping my kayak, that's even better
