Beaver Problems

Got a beaver dam clogging up the water on my parents property and its causing some flooding.  Technically a portion of the property is wetlands, and is generally wet in the winter/spring, but is draining much slower than usual this year.  Regs say I can't hunt the beaver, but I was told I could apply for a special permit to hunt it if it was causing damage to my property.  Can anyone shed a little light on this process?

I haven't looked at the trapping regs, and that's on my to do list.  But I've never trapped anything before and just really wish I could shoot the *censored*.

If all else fails, put a square or rectangular outlet box in the dam.  Not a round one.  They can plug up a round hole, but they don't know how to plug a square hole.

Apply for a nuisance wildlife trapping permit. Get a hold of 1 of Us here on the site that has the equiptment to trap them and remove the problem.
Go to the WDFW and look at the link download the permit. It will ask you have you tried fenceing, guard animals, hazing ect. ect. if none of these worked they will issue a permit to remove them.
There are several nuisance wildlife trappers such as myself that can help you.
P.S where is the problem? western washington?

I work with a licensed trapper.  Her Hunt Washington name is "Fatslinger".  She traps a lot of beavers.  If you want and experienced trapper maybe send her a PM.  She recently gave me a head to make a skull mount.  We always joke at work that we have to be careful what we say to each other so cooworkers don't get the wrong idea over hearing us.  Once she said "Hey Ken come here I want to show you pictures of my large blonde beaver"  (she is blonde by the way).  Or when I had to correct myself when I said "I really liked the head she gave me".   Anyway very very nice person and knows her trapping.

You should re post this under trapping. I know theres alot of guys that can help you out there. Under your circumstances obtaining the permit would be easy and allow you (or whoever you get to do it) to use body gripping traps. Me and my dad have done jobs like that before but were down here in the tri city's.

Problem is beavers become trap wise very quick! We have a huge issue with them at work.  They reproduce so quick we can't keep up.

they dont if you get them in a 330, they get a ride in the back of my truck.
But you are right, they are very smart. You miss one in a leg hold, they will play hell on your sets.
