Yes please.

Here is my idea for a drag reducer. Just in front of the camera I would fashion a shield in the shape of a "V"...inside the V would be a cylinder that I could easily run a bolt down into the ball. Here is a very very rough drawing.

I think we are going to end up with three prototypes for testing. I'm going to assemble the downrigger "GoPro V Mount" and a the "GoPro Rigger Torpedo". The first has been explained and the torpedo will be simliar to the version made commerciall. Smossy will be coming up with his version and all three will be tested at various depths.

I know right.........don't think I wont have a crab cam posted up.

By the way...if you have any scrap pvc laying around let me know. My torpedo will need a short piece of 3 or 4 inch...the tube will be maybe half that and only about 6 inches long....hopeing to have a taper from cam housing to shaft to look pretty and be more streamline.

How are fishing shows getting underwater footage, using a go pro on the end of a wand perhaps?  Or are they using different types of cameras?

Yeah, on the end of a pole.  Here is a Youtube vid where the guy says he had a Go Pro cam on the end of a pole:

Anyway for the underwater shots I used the Go Pro Hero HD cam and mounted on a pole. I used the Canon XH A1 for all the other shots.

May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Why would someone spend $150 on the troll pro when you could build it out of pvc couplers and a zinc bought from the boating store? If you google troll pro there are several guys out there building their own. I could see paying $75 for it since there is maybe $30 max in materials but not double that.

Part of the fun is the building. I can see in my mind the finished product torpedo....all painted up with flasher tape on the sides.

I cut the end off of a golf club and welded a tab to the end of the steel shaft to mount the 3m mount to. Worked good. Took the kids on a float down the river and just held it close to the bottom and when we watched it later we saw a few fish we didn't notice when we floated over them.  Got a few underwater shots of the sharks we caught last summer. I will be building a longer pole for this falls humpy and silver seasons. I gotta work on my filming though.  :chuckle:

I have my gopole for that. Extends from 17 to 40 inches. I have a video I made the other day at a salmon hatchery. Once I get time to edit into a cool lil video Ill post it up for everyone.

I'm going to build one too i think, and somewhat copy the troll pro but make it my own. I also need to get an rc plane going again to mount the gopro to, just need someone who is good at covering them to redo my camera ship. So many ARF's out there it's kind of a lost art.
