Poll: Recent Gun Purchases Due to Political Climate
« on: April 24, 2013, 02:48:31 AM »
If you already own a gun, then you're likely already conserving what ammo you shoot. Or looking to buy more. Just curious as to how many on here have said "I've always wanted ______, and I better buy it now before prices go up or it becomes outlawed."

I don't buy into hysteria or hype.
Didn't in 2007, Didn't in the last 4 months.
I think for myself.

I bought an AR in late January, it was a great deal and something I've always wanted so I couldn't pass it up. I'm 90% sure I would have passed on it if there wasn't all the new gun law talk going on though, so I voted I purchased due to the political climate. THEN I needed ammo for it... didn't go out and hoard a bunch though and didn't pay inflated prices on anything YET.

Haven't bought any guns or ammo.  Need to save what little money I have left due to the Obama economy for gas........ :bash:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

I already have all the guns I need, and then some. If anything, instead of buying more, I'd consider selling some so I can afford to go on a good hunt or two.

I have a hard time watching people trade away stuff in exchange for ammo. Trading away a firearm for ammo seems crazy to me. Shoot it and all you have left is a few bucks worth of empty brass, which is only worth that if you reload. Your gun that is worth hundreds of dollars is now gone. I just don't see the sense in it.

A gun is no good without ammo just like ammo is no good without a gun.  If the Dear Leader had his way then online ammo sales as well as foreign imports would halt. Taxes and microstamping on cartriges would put prices through the roof. Millions of gun owners would realize that they foolishly bought a half a dozen MSRs and only have three boxes of ammo between them. In such a day and age I would be willing to trade them a case of my .223 for one of the ARs and laugh it all the way to the range.

Yes with all the hype on AR type rifles there are some others that are going un noticed.  Picked up a nice german drilling, another Italian O/U combo gun and a a very nice high end Italian SxS and all of them at half the going rate of a few years ago.  Neat thing all have readily availible ammo if you look in the right places.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I read somewhere that America has something like a 100 year supply of guns and a 2 year supply of ammo. You can only shoot one at a time. I say, if you haven't worried about the strength of your floor, you aren't doing it right  :chuckle:
