Start along any of the treeless major canyons east-side.  Go up into the nastiest slopes short of cliffs you can find.  Bring lots of water.  About the time you cough up a lung, you'll be in them.

Yakima canyon, Snake River, Columbia River breaks through Chelan and Douglas counties, portions of the Okanogan River drainage, Moses and Grand Coulees, and pretty much any extensive treeless steep rocky country will have chukars.  The distribution map in the upland pamphlet shows the major areas.  You can use GoHunt on the WDFW online mapping, to scout out public lands; on private it's usually not too hard to get permission, though the ranchers might laugh at you for wanting to hunt those @#$%^&.

A wise man once said, you hunt chukars once for fun, and the rest of your life for revenge.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Best damn quote ever.   Thats funny.
P.S.   Buy a damn good pair of boots, like you were sheep hunting, not pheasant, and make friends with an Ortho doc.

I agree with what doublelung said.  any canyon with water and no trees is a good place to start.
Have good boots and make sure your feet are protected.  Start at the bottom and hunt up if you can.  Its tough trying to hike back to the truck after all day in the steep stuff.
Seem to be a decent number of birds this year based on what i saw over the openign weekend.

Very true.  It always pisses me off when I miss and they land down the ridge and they sound like there laughing at you.  That's when it goes from hunting for me to just killing.
