Couldnt focus on lings cause every time id drop down one would take it, i like to catch anything that bites but it was getting old fast
Were you fishing anchored? Irish lord don't usually wander far from home and are usually shallow. We had a spot like this with Irish Lord off of Gull Rock between Depoe Bay and Newport, OR. We would move about fifty yards north or south and we would be out of them. Still on a good rockfish reef but out of the Irish Lord's territory.
Local aquariums were always on the lookout for some good Reds. Having a commercial license along with our charter license we would make a few trips per year to that spot and catch eight or ten for them. Was cool to tour the aquarium and see fish we had caught ourselves. Very cool fish to watch through the glass. Sold them wolf eel and rat fish too. They make the Irish Lords look pretty normal
