Archery Elk SW WA, or Idaho central?

in 2011 I killed a bull in sw wa and a bull in Idaho... 
The Idaho archery season is just getting good when wa archery closes.
There are lots of days in the fall!

The nice thing about idaho is that if your not successful during archery you can go back for rifle season depending on what tag you buy. That being said hunt em both if you can.

Make sure you know the area in central ID you want to go - there were several hundred thousand acres of great country burned last year. I have also been told by friends that hunt there the elk #'s are down due to wolves. Idaho is a great place to go, you just need to know the area.

U should say there use to be more game and higher quality animals... I havent seen very many big bull photos taken out of there this year..?  I would rather save money by hunting in my home state instead of spending more money by driving over there and the other expenses, when your probably going to see lots of doggy prints on the ground (Wolves) and ive heard that the elk over there are getting smarter and most are mute because of the wolves...

There may have been more game back in the day, I'm sure there was, I didn't hunt it 10 years ago.  There is plenty of game in Idaho, I see as many elk there as I do here and I am after bucks, not even targeting elk (cause I don't want to pack them out!).  You aren't going to see them from the pickup though!

As far as cost goes, add up all of your cost to hunt Washington and I think you would find that it is just a stone throw to get an Idaho tag.  For instance, what are your draw odds for a branch bull in a good area?  Really I have no clue what the odds are, but say it is just five years between "quality" permits (conservative).  Add up all your costs for 5 years for one quality hunt.  I have something like 13 points and have never been drawn! 

Myself, I am done playing the "tax the resident" game in Washington, I have been going to Montana and Idaho.  Plus, they sell wolf tags too!

I dont need to get drawn to kill a decent bull... i hunt elk on the west side. If you cant find a good elk without getting drawn in the state of washington then you sit on the couch to much(Hense you dont want to pack it out). Or u just live in the city. Oh and cost i can stay ay my house saves me buying extra food and a place to sleep

Have you ever hunted Idaho?  Everybody knows the wolves are bad in Idaho and its effected the elk hunting, however there are still Monster bulls to be had in Idaho OTC....   Get to Idaho early find the heard and call UM in, you should know that Bildo...

Have you hunted them?     Again everyone knows there are wolves in Idaho lots of them...  And yes the elk adapt to the Wolves, they do shut up when they hear the wolves howl, same thing as the Moose in Canada, when the wolves howl the moose adios, point being made you can still call and kill the $hit out of the moose in canada and call and kill the $hit out  of the bulls in Idaho!...

Im not saying that they are being quite just because they hear a wolf howl... they are staying mute year round to stay undetected because they know if they bugle a wolf will be on them in no time... And just because bulls are taken out that doesnt mean they are big... Havent seen a decent pic on this site so far...

   I think this site is called Hunt-WA  Not Hunt-Idaho  Maybe thats why you havent seen bulls posted from Idaho ?
