two 400+ plus bulls in one year?

Hey, this is the same guy who shot the big one in the blues.  I'm sure he "hunted" hard for this one too...
spending all of that time learning areas, scouting, hiking and finding two monster bulls in the same year, quite the "hunter"..... I wonder who irons his camo?

Some of you guy's are amazing. The guy is a successful business man who hunts by his means cause he can! Now don't get me wrong I'm not a big fan of the whole surrounding the animal with a posse thing until the guy gets there to shoot it, but for right now it's leagal and these guys are using that tool to increase their odds.  I'm not sure I would do it that way so I'm not defending that part but if he chooses to ... oh well? He still hunted them and he still had to put them down with a good shot! You can't stumble out there like an idiot just because some guy's have it spotted for you!
I'm not sure? but I didn't see anywhere in any regs that you have to spend a certain amount of time scouting and learning an area before you can harvest an animal from there ... When you say that you are calling out everyone who has ever used a guide for a hunt.

What I am saying is he didn't hunt them, he shot them.  To me they are not trophies.  I have not problem with the fact he is rich and
bought the big dollar tags.  If I had an extra 65K I would buy the Gov tag next year, and spend two weeks HUNTING for a trophy be it a spike or
rag horn, or 400+ bull.  The quality of the hunt, guide or no guide, is what makes a trophy IMO.

 is a little over the top IMO and should have been directed that way a little more.

The point is really all the money aside he really isn't doing anything different than anybody else would do on a guided hunt and as far as the guide himself it's his choice to use his crew in that fashion not the hunter who chose his services. And look if you spent 67k on a elk tag wouldn't you use the service which insures you to get the largest animal legally possible fro your $? I mean you are a smart guy and you surely wouldn't spend 67k on a tag and then go shoot a 300 bull now would you? If he didn't get the largest animal possible everyone would criticise him for that so he really is in a no win situation.

I agree with you on the comment made by backwoods boy, but he has every right to say what he feels too.

I personally would not use a paid guide, and would be very happy with a 300 bull.

It's all hypothetical anyways.

That's too bad, some of my funnest and most memorable hunts were with paid guides and outfitters. To each his own I suppose but don't lump all guides and outfitters in with these guys. They were paid to find these 2 bulls and sit on them until he could get there. Most guides and outfitters work their asses off for multiple clients each year and give a real service for the money they receive, its not fair to compare them to someone that spends the entire season looking for 1 particular animal for 1 particular hunter for 1 particular lump sum of money. This doesn't make them bad guys either, they are just filling a different niche.

I'm not saying I have any problem with guides.  I happen to be related to a very good one.

I'm just more of a do it yourself sort of guy...or maybe a cheap skate.

i am a do it yourself, but i think that knowing that you paid someone BILLIONS of dollars to find you an elk doesnt make you a better elk hunter, so i dont see the point.

plus when you are at the bar with your buddies and they ask you about the hunt it just doesnt sound good when you say "i hired this dude to find me an elk then i shot it".  Plus im a CHEAP SKATE TOO.
