Of course, he swept the cameraman with his firearm, so he fails Hunter Ed! Good catch, though.

Probably a pen raised bird and a great example of why wild birds are better.

I didn't catch the quail but I hit it to the ground and the dog caught it. I don't have video but several witnesses. Yes it was a pen raised bobwhite.

I whacked a pheasant with my hand as it flew by one time.  I could have caught it but I didn't think fast enough  :bash:

I caught a duck in the dark when I was setting out decoys.......  Only after it had ran right into my chest.  A little startling when you don't see it coming.
Cut em!

Maybe you should hunt bears in the dark!  :chuckle:

That was one heck of a catch, wonder if he played fisherman and went full catch and release?  So now that he has that down, time to one up it,... catch one with chop sticks like the Ralph Macchio in The Karate Kid...!!!! That would be the schiz-nit!!!

TOTALLY POSSIBLE!!! I've done it!

I snagged a quail bare handed out of the air while I out on a walk with my wife and kids a couple years back. I have a pic of it some place. We ended up letting him go. They're not the brightest critter out there...

Also, years ago down in Yuma, AZ on opening morning for dove, 20 min before the shooting started my dog grabbed a low flyer coming over the dike right out of the air. It was pretty cool!
