skagit bear damage

I must of just missed the bear that did this. Think it will come back or will move on. There were multiple trees stripped. :bash:

I find it amazing what the trees can go through after being ripped apart by the bears. I have been told that the trees now are hybrids and that is the only reason they can live through being de-barked. I don't know if that is true or not but I see Doug Firs that have been completely stripped of bark and they continue to grow year after year.

Way up high in that one tree like that I'd think that's a porky too and not a bear. Or the tree is dead and the bark is falling off. I don't think bears peel way up high. Maybe the 1st pic is a bear.

Bears do indeed clime trees and eat the bark off of the top of the trees

That is bear sign. Porkies do not leave long strips of bark and smaller bears can really climb.

If the sign is only days old you might keep any eye on that area, but if you want a bruiser you will want to look elsewhere.
