Need help with coyote stalking my dog.

I have a yote that has almost got hold of my little buddy twice now. He is a Chihuahua so he's helpless against a yote if out in the open. Both times he ran to me in broad daylight with this yote hot on his trail. Since the last close call I went out and got one of those driveway motion detectors from harbor freight ($18) and put bait in front of the detector. The detector senses heat so wind and stuff has no effect so no false alarms. This setup works awesome because it rings a doorbell sound on the receiver inside to let me know he is there. The problem is the thing is constantly going off from coons, birds and wild ferral cats but the coyote never comes in. I thought this would be a sure fire way to get this guy but it seems he is only interested in food that is alive. I really don't want to set traps out of fear of catching something like a deer. Our property is only 40 acres and deer are everywhere so foot holds and snares would be risky I think. Anyone have experience with a situation like this?

Put your dog out in a live trap all safe and sound to draw in the yote...

I actually thought about that but lets just say the wife is not sold on the idea. I might though if left with no other option.

Pm me and I'll come over, call it in, and take care of it with a nicely placed broad head.

I really want to take care of him myself. It's personal now after the second run he took at him. Bad thing is my little buddy is full of piss and vinegar and not really scared of dogs so he's not quick to run for his life.

Start baiting it with anything you've got. Leftovers from your dinner, bones, dog food even. Maybe set up a trail camera so you can see when it's coming in to the bait. Maybe set up a pop up blind downwind from the bait, and sit there and wait it out, and try to kill it with a shotgun when it comes in.

I have been baiting it for a week and have a trail cam on the bait as well as the the motion detector. So far no yotes. I'm sure there are several but so far it has been the same one that keeps trying to get my dog. He is very large for a Washington coyote and not very scared of people. I can't figure out why he would be bold enough to attack in the middle of the day right by my workshop with me there and a radio on pretty loud but then not come into bait even at night. I'm using canned dog food, bacon, canned tuna and chicken for bait.

You guys are just wrong on so many levels
Gonna try calling him this weekend. If that doesn't work I guess Lou is going to have to do some time in a small kennel by the edge of the woods. Might have to put him in therapy after though.
