Easy pickings
« on: May 27, 2013, 03:05:57 PM »
We like to launch at the Fairhaven boat launch,Less traffic and cuts out the run across the Bay instead of using Squalicum launch.Well while waiting for my wife and dog to
Show up I watched Three people get tickets for not having their Boaters Certification
Card. They probably would have gotten off with a verbal, Like the other two people I seen contacted. They were giving the Coasties a hard time about just another way to make money. One old timer was yelling how he has been on the water longer then the
Coast Guard officers had been alive.lesson learned for some people watching.be Polite. The course is kind of a joke but on a rainy day might as well be legal.
I got our boat inspected and got some free line from one of the Coasties.
If you are not certified And have a bad attitude I guarantee a ticket for you.
I think they said it was A $124.00 citation

That's interesting I was once told by a coastie that the boater cert card was not in their jurisdiction. That was years ago though so something probably changed.

 I will be taking mine this week.  much time spent underway and I'm sure I've forgotten a few things.  Never a good idea to argue with someone who is just doing their jobs especially a Coastie

You can take it online.

that's my plan thanks for the url again, 1st time through the practice questions I received an 78% not bad for not reading the book. I recall reviewing the original outline for the course with my father when he was part of the resources used to verify the course work.

Was checked by coasties last year ,no questions about the card at all........ had chat about their M&P guns with them and good laugh . The card test is free at BOATUS ,don't know why some sites are charging fee for it ....the state will want their $10 for issuance of the card though ..... :hello:
Everyone thinks that I'm freak ,I don't look different do I ?
