I always thought the 'arms' part of the 2A applied to all things that could be used as a weapon--guns, swords, bows, knives, etc. Guns just tend to get the most attention.
"arms" means arms or armaments, back when this was written this included powder kegs, trebuchets, cannons, swords, flaming/exploding arrows, warships, and even primitive landmines. The whole point was that any common man could have the same weapons as King George or whoever the next tyrant was.
"people" means ALL people....we used to punish a criminal and then allow them to be a free man again.
"shall not be infringed" is pretty easy to understand.
pretty sad where we are now....all hoorah over keeping our little pea shooters with our teeny little bullets ....every tyrant on earth thinks its hilarious i bet too.....sad
