I have a real problem shooting anything early on in a hunt. I just like to hunt way to much. Most of my hunts I look at a lot of animals then kill something the last day that is about average for what I saw during the hunt. And it doesn't bother me at all not to shoot the biggest buck that I saw during a hunt. I usually set a goal before the hunt starts and stick to it the first few days, while seeing what the area has to offer then readjust from there. But one of these days I'm going to se a 180" plus buck on the first day and I'm going to kill him.
That's a pretty hard question to answer, depends 100% on the unit.

I drew Entiat rut hunt a few years ago and only had the weekend. A couple of years ago, I would have made the same face. But I will be in a similar situation this year; I am a new high school teacher; (meaning that I am still on "probation" and can be basically let go without cause for the first couple of years-the school can just chalk it up to "not a good fit for our district") so I have to be very careful how much time I take off. I get two personal days, which I take during hunting season, but we get no regular days off during my permit season, and unfortunately my days off during spring, winter and summer break don't correspond with anything that does me any good. I could take "sick days", but I have a problem with the dishonesty of that, plus I may need those days if wife or kids get sick. I drew a great whitetail tag this year, and I would love to hunt for a week or two and hold out for a great buck, but honestly, I am hoping to get it done on a single 4 day weekend......just life I guess...

Hunt as much as you can, as hard as you can, and shoot what makes you happy. You earned that tag, do it as much justice as you can and ull never regret it
